Following Vern’s announcement that he had accepted a call to First Church Congregational, UCC, in Fairfield, Conn., the Church Council authorized Council Chair Rich Harrington to form an Intentional Interim Search Committee. With the guidance of the Central Association of the Mass Conference of the UCC, the committee is charged with initiating the procedure to call an Intentional Interim Minister. This process will help the CCoL congregation in discerning who we are as a church community and the type of pastoral leadership we need to take us forward.
Five church members have accepted the invitation to be part of the committee, including Rich Harrington, Holly Magner, Connie Turner, Skip Roy, and Susan Janes. The group has been meeting and anticipate the interim pastor will be hired before the start of the Church program year in September.

The search committee members are long-time members of our church. They have all served at one time or another on major committees including Diaconate, Finance, Capital Campaign, Sunday School and Christian Education and Personnel committees as well as Search Committees. They bring valuable insight and knowledge as to the “work of the church.”
Rev. Barbara Keast and Rev. Lee Atherton will provide pastoral coverage through the hiring of the Interim Pastor.
If you have any questions or concerns about this transition time please talk to a member of the Interim Pastoral Search Committee. This is an unsettling time for many, but we have been given this gift over the next 18 plus months to reflectwho we were and to discover what God is now calling this Church to be.
