Wednesday Evenings During Lent, Beginning Feb. 26

Each Wednesday During Lent, starting on Ash Wednesday, Febburary 26; there will be a time of gathering at church; with Wednesday, March 18 acting as an “Intermission”.

The outline goes—come for part or the whole—ALL are welcome!

6:00 to 6:45:  Simple Meal planned by Marilyn Converse (come any time)

6:45-7:00 Devotion at the Tables

On Ash Wednesday, we will step into the entrance area, burn last year’s palms, reflect on good intentions going bad, turn them over to God, & then those who wish receiving the mark of ashes.

7:00-8:00 Reflection/Discussion/Experience, choose your experience

Option 1:  Experimenting with Bells for the Novice

Participants are asked to attend a majority of the gatherings.  They will learn about bells, how to handle them and ring, and learn a simple piece that will be shared in worship on Palm Sunday.

Option 2:  Stranger At My Door

A True Story Of Finding Jesus In Unexpected Guests”.  Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove tells the story of Rutba House, a hospitality house offering a home to anyone who needs a place to live.  Each gathering will engage with a section of the book and related stories themes like trust, exposed, companionship.  Helpful, will be obtaining a copy of the book, some are available here at church.  Inexpensive copies are also available for Kindle.  Participants do not need to attend all gatherings.

Option 3:  The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss

Each gathering will feature a different Dr. Seuss story which will be read out loud: The Sneetches, Horton Hatches an Egg, Yertle the Turtle, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham, The Zax.  The gathering will include discussion about its message and how it corresponds with the message of the Gospel of Jesus.  No homework.  Each is independent.  Child and adult appropriate.
