Purpose

  • Help/encourage visitors/newcomers to connect in fellowship and Christian love with each other and other members of our church community
  • Encourage newcomers to consider regular attendance and membership
  • Support publicity outreach where appropriate to encourage residents of local communities to visit and consider CCOL as their church home

Typical Committee Tasks/Activities

  • Identifying and greeting visitors
  • Having visitors fill out pew cards
  • Give pew cards to the Pastor(s)
  • Be sure visitors are added to the Parish News mailing list
  • Request new nametags from the church office
  • Connect visitors with members by introducing them at Coffee Hour
  • Provide New Member Orientation packets to give to visitors
  • Identify visitors’ interests and talents as quickly as possible to:
    • Help them engage quickly with people having common interests/talents
    • Be sure Pastor(s) and the Nominating Committee are aware of this information
  • Work with Pastor(s) to schedule and hold newcomer social events (e.g., coffees/dinners)
  • Assist Pastor(s) with New Member Orientation materials/meetings as needed
  • Support internal and external publicity where appropriate
