Purpose
- Help/encourage visitors/newcomers to connect in fellowship and Christian love with each other and other members of our church community
- Encourage newcomers to consider regular attendance and membership
- Support publicity outreach where appropriate to encourage residents of local communities to visit and consider CCOL as their church home
Typical Committee Tasks/Activities
- Identifying and greeting visitors
- Having visitors fill out pew cards
- Give pew cards to the Pastor(s)
- Be sure visitors are added to the Parish News mailing list
- Request new nametags from the church office
- Connect visitors with members by introducing them at Coffee Hour
- Provide New Member Orientation packets to give to visitors
- Identify visitors’ interests and talents as quickly as possible to:
- Help them engage quickly with people having common interests/talents
- Be sure Pastor(s) and the Nominating Committee are aware of this information
- Work with Pastor(s) to schedule and hold newcomer social events (e.g., coffees/dinners)
- Assist Pastor(s) with New Member Orientation materials/meetings as needed
- Support internal and external publicity where appropriate
