YOUTH

CCOL offers our children and youth a multitude of opportunities to get involved in learning to live their faith. Our youth can give back and grow as children of God through a variety of opportunities. First and foremost, children and youth may participate in Sunday School, Middle School Youth Group, or the High School Youth Group as described in this section.

In addition, they may participate in other opportunities described in the Ministries and Music sections of this website.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Each Sunday from the first Sunday after Labor Day in September through the beginning of June, children from age 3 through 8th Grade experience education and faith development in the classrooms on the lower level and in our upstairs kitchen. The first Sunday of each month, the children and youth join the adults in the sanctuary for communion. In addition to our regular lessons, we involve everyone in special programs including outreach and topical activities and a Christmas Eve pageant. During May, the entire Sunday School focuses on preparing for the annual Children’s Sunday worship service and its musical drama.

MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP

The Middle School Youth Group (MSYG) at CCoL includes students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades from Littleton as well as surrounding communities like Ayer, Harvard, and Groton. We meet every Sunday during church, but separate from the worship service. In ministering to the students we focus on Faith, Fellowship and Service. We explore how Faith impacts our daily lives and the decisions we make while ensuring we still find time to have a little fun.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP

The high school youth group at CCOL welcomes any high-school-aged youth (9th through 12th grade), no matter where you are along your faith journey. We have weekly meetings most Sunday evenings, from 7-9pm..

Our group consists of students from a number of high schools in the area. We join together, as a supportive and accepting group, for fun activities, games, service projects, Bible study, discussions, spiritual nurture and leadership development.

Our ultimate goals are to:

Inspire faithful commitment to Jesus, including Bible study, fellowship, and church attendance. Encourage positive relationships based on the love of God. Provide opportunities for fellowship with peers in a safe, comfortable, and uplifting environment. Provide opportunities for service to others within our community, as well as an annual mission trip experience. The culmination of our program year is our annual mission trip. Each summer, we travel to a different state for a week-long service adventure.

CONFIRMATION CLASS

Teens in the 9th grade and above, who have not joined the church, are encouraged to participate in our Confirmation Program. During the year (from September to Confirmation Sunday in May or June) we will explore our faith and beliefs through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the United Church of Christ, the meaning of being a Christian in the world, and what becoming a full member of the church means. We meet monthly or twice monthly for discussion and activities in an open, fun, seeking environment.
